Kia Ora koutou,
Responding to the changing COVID-19 scenario, we at CARE have consulted with our community advisory groups, community researchers, the Head of School, and the PVC. Our collective voices, and particularly the voices of our community advisory groups guide us to cancel all our face –face events.
Given the importance of the Race Relations week and the spirit of Te Tiriti-based Futures 2020, we will still have our online events and our activists will join us here to hold the events.
This decision was taken keeping the health and well-being of our key stakeholders, who are often the poorest, elderly, and most disenfranchised.
In addition, the national-level Te Tiriti-based futures events have a large number of really exciting talks on racism and strategies for addressing racism. Here is the link to the events on Action Station: https://our.actionstation.org.nz/calendars/tiriti-based-futures-2020-events?page=1
In sum, there are plenty of events to engage you in dialogue, and lots of opportunities for planning our pathways into the future. Thank you so much for your interest in attending these events and your support. Here’s wishing you healing and strength for the coming months. As a Center, we will mostly be working virtually, while also carrying out our community-based work, and specifically working in our partner communities on developing and implementing interventions responding to COVID-19. If you would like to join any of these, just raise your hand!
Nga mihi nui,
Mohan
